This was one of those mental pictures that decided it had to be made into existing art RIGHT THIS SECOND, and I had to put everything on hold--including dinner and homework--to finish it. It would not let me go until the entire thing was done, but it's also one of those art things that makes me go "WOAH. How the hell did I do that?!", so in the end I didn't mind that it took over my life for a while.
And, uh, apparently I'm not as bad at cross-hatching or Western-style ink shading as I thought! Good to know. Dunno what's up with my Legend of Mana revisitation as of late--it's been ages since I replayed the game--but hey, it's not like I mind drawing pretty guys (with or without magical sparkly rocks in their chests.)
Start-to-finish in Photoshop CS4, took about three hours-ish, or just long enough that I had to seriously buckle down and work to get necessary-for-good-grades stuff done. D: Wish that my priorities would keep themselves unskewed.
Releasing this under a Creative Commons license as usual, BUT since this took a while and even I think it turned out fairly awesome, courtesy would be to let me know what you're gonna use him for (or at the very least, put a link in my direction somewhere on or near the finished thing.)
And of course, Legend of Mana is still, even after all these years, copyright Square Enix/the knights who until recently said Squaresoft.
